Style Inspiration: Yin and Yang

style inspiration board minimalist yin and yang

Lately my style boards have been drawing a lot of inspiration from the idea of meshing the yin and yang of certain elements. It could be I've absorbed via osmosis the pervading style vibe—I mean, there's a reason why 'millenial pink' is so popular, after all...

The way I see it though, there's a lot of comfort, not to mention aesthetic give, to be derived from mixing the soft qualities of one's personal style choices, with the more rigid ones. Think the flow of silk set against the structure of starched linen. The simplicity of a low-heeled sandal against the formality of a crisp trouser suit. Of course there are other ways to play up this sort of gender defying dressing, such as through your use of jewellery and scents.

I personally adore the ambiguous feel that comes with a perfume that adopts traditionally masculine notes such as musk, tobacco, and spices, to name a few, and blending it with the more feminine floral, powdery and vanilla notes.

Throw in a little bit of, well, you, and there you have it: your own unique style.

PS: I'm mad active on Pinterest these days, so to see more images that relate to this theme you can follow my boards HERE.
